Developments in the financial and monetary sector for the first half of 2005 mirrored the level of activity in the real economy. Liquidity, as measured by the loans to deposit ratio, eased by 60 basis points from year-end 2004 to 80.1 at June 2005, as the growth in deposits outpaced that of loans and advances.
