St Vincent and the Grenadines is composed of 30 islands, islets and cays that extend from St Vincent, the largest, southward toward Carriacou in the Grenadines of Grenada (Figure 1). The islands are part of the Lesser Antilles Island arc, a region of active volcanism caused by subduction of the North American and/or South American Plate beneath the Caribbean Plate.
