Chapter 21: WOMEN, GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT (National Development Strategy of Guyana)

Although there is widespread agreement that development should be broad-based, women often remain marginalised in the process. Though the experiences of individual women vary widely, in general women as a group fare worse than men on a number of fronts, ranging from the incidence of poverty to protection under the law, and from access to health care to decision-making power.
