Setting up of mycobacterial testing using the BACTEC method; Further development of the Laboratory Information System (LABIS) to facilitate improved reporting functions and inclusion of Bacteriology reporting; the recruitment of a virologist; The meeting of National Epidemiologists and Laboratory Directors in June 1999; and a successful submission in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Laboratory Training Branch to the CDC Office of Global Health are among the achievements of the Laboratory Division.
