In the mid-1990s the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines liberalised the radio broadcasting industry. The liberalisation process came almost on the heels of public utterances by a spokesman for the then ruling New Democratic Party (NDP) that the government had no plans or interest in liberalising the radio industry.
