Foreign Investment Regimes in the Americas: A Comparative Study

This comparative study was prepared by the Inter-American Development Bank for the FTAA Working Group on Investment. It covers a comparative inventory of the legal foreign investment regimes of the countries in the Hemisphere. The study is divided into two parts: first, a methodological part which determines whether each country has a foreign investment statute, and identifies the juridical rank of the regulations governing the statute in order to determine its degree of stability; and second, 27 chapters, one per country, that contain information supplied by the countries and follows the methodology used in section I.
