Fostering economic development through social partnership in Barbados by Tayo Fashoyin
The author identifies the need to strengthen the linkages between social dialogue at national level and consultation at sectoral and enterprise level, and emphasizes the importance of this linkage if social dialogue is to have the desired impact and reach its full potential. The paper also explores the prospects for national social dialogue in a number of other countries in the region and concludes by identifying the factors that contributed to the establishment and on-going success of social dialogue in Barbados. It also identifies the basic conditions for a meaningful social dialogue in any society.
