The Cuban economy, one of the best endowed with human resources in Latin America and the Carbbean, during the Periodo Especial (1990-present) has had the highest levels of unemployment in the last four decades. After a recession and sever adjustments, however, the economy is beginning to recuperate its path of growth within the limitations of the Periodo Especial.
