Cabinet in 1998 approved the establishment of a Human Rights Unit within the Ministry of the Attorney General.The Human Rights Unit was initially mandated to prepare all of the periodic reports due as part of the treaty obligations of Trinidad and Tobago under certain international human rights instruments.
