Recommendations of the Caribbean Civil Society Consultation on the 2002 Commonwealth Finance Ministers' Meeting : The Monterrey Consensus and the Millenium Development Goals- Kingston, Jamaica 27-28 May 2002

The Millenium Development Goals (MDGs0 and the Monterrey Consensus together formulate a response, in the eyes of world governments, to some of the major issues and concerns that people face today. The two documents propose to constitute a reponse to poverty; the HIV/AIDS pandemic; gender empowerment; and economic development, amongst other issues. The question for us is whether these proffered solutions are relevant, useful, and take into account the current context of the lives of those upon whom they will impact the most and, as a result, if they can be successful.
